ORGANIC AJWAIN SEED, whole
Botanical Name: Trachyspermum ammi
Qualities: Ajwain seed oil has the highest percentage of thymol which has shown to have local anesthetic, antibacterial and antifungal properties. In Ayurvedic practice, ajwain seeds are sometimes recommended as a carminative in treating flatulence and indigestion.
Common Use: This flavorful, strongly pungent seed (or fruit pod) is popularly featured in Indian, African, and Middle-Eastern cuisine. Its flavor closely resembles that of thyme due to the predominant essential oil thymol. In order to keep fragrance and flavor intact, the seeds are usually ground just before preparing dishes and added to the cooking recipes at the final stages.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container.
