Production: Marshmallow is a flowering perennial with fuzzy, soft leaves and white, sometimes purple flowers. All parts of the plant are edible. The mucilage-rich roots are harvested in late fall, before the ground freezes.
Qualities: Marshmallow root has a long history of use in traditional herbalism. It has been enjoyed for centuries in teas, tinctures, and topical applications. Its naturally occurring mucilage gives it a soothing quality, making it a popular ingredient in herbal teas and skincare products. It is commonly used to help moisten sore throats, dry coughs, heartburn, stomach ulcer symptoms, diarrhea, and constipation. It can also be used externally as a calming poultice for wounds and burns.
Common Use: Marshmallow root can be prepared as a gentle, comforting tea, either on its own or blended with herbs such as ginger root, licorice root, echinacea purpurea, orange peel, or chamomile. It can also be used to make oils, lotions, and salves, as well as desserts and candies.

Quality Tea
I make this tea in my French Press and drink it all day long, absolutely love it. I use 1/4 cup of loose tea in a 4-cup pot.

Excellent product
Love the quality of Essential Organics Marshmallow Root. They offer one of the best prices around and that’s important. I go through a fair amount rather quickly as it’s one of the herbs I feed my horses daily. I highly recommend it!

Organic Marshmallow
Since I create herbal tea blends, I appreciate that it is less sponges in texture. Often Marshmallow has a more shredded/spongee texture, which does not blend well with other herbs, but instead clumps more. So I prefer more of this chipped style. The pieces were a bit large this time though. In previous batches it was smaller chips, which is ideal for blending.
