Properties: Dandelion is an edible perennial herb with deeply cut leaves, yellow flowers, and has a thick taproot which is dark brown on the outside and white on the inside. It is native to most of Europe, Northern Africa, and Asia, but now has naturalized all over the world alongside roads and in lawns as a common weed. It's botanical name Taraxacum is derived from the Greek words 'taraxos' meaning disorder and 'akos' meaning remedy, referring to dandelion's myriad of healing properties.
Qualities: There are medical references as early as the 10th century for the use of taraxcacum by Arabian physicians as a remedy for liver and kidney complaints and dandelion root is valued for the same reasons to this day. Studies have shown that dandelion stimulates bile flow and has a mild diuretic effect. According to some nutritional analysis, dandelion root contains substantial levels of vitamins A, C, D, B-complex, iron, magnesium, zinc, manganese, choline, calcium, boron, and a high amount of potassium.
Common Use: Roasting the root gives it a coffee-like taste. To make dandelion root coffee, carefully roast the cut root in a pan or oven or use 1 tsp of our roasted dandelion powder for 15 to 20 min, strain and add dairy or dairy alternatives, and sweeteners as desired.
For dandelion root tea, dissolve 1 tbsp of roasted dandelion root, 1 tsp of minced, fresh or dried ginger root, and one cardamom seed in two cups of water. Steep the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes, strain, add sweetener to taste, and enjoy! Dandelion root can also be blended into smoothies, mixed with juices, or sprinkled over cereal and oatmeal.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container.

I have been using this tea for years and I have noticed the full body taste has weakened? Not sure if the processing is different or where they buy the bulk product from is different Still a great value , just notice a difference in the taste

Beautiful dandy.clean, cut evenly and yes, actually sifted. I make coffee with Dandilion and Burdock and a touch of fennel. 5 years I've looked for clean, cut and sifted organic product, I've used 6 different suppliers that were so bad, some never even washed it, let alone sift, chunks of root my coffee grinder couldn't handle. Dandelion Root Tincture
I purchased this dandelion root because I needed it for my dog. He has cancer that spread to his lymph nodes. I grind it so it is like a really coarse coffee. He weighs 69 pounds, so I use 3 1/2 teaspoons (1 tsp per 20 pounds) I simmer this in one cup of water for 20 minutes and give it to him in a syringe. I add a teaspoon of raw unfiltered honey to make it more palatable for him. This is supposed to get rid of the cancer in the lymphatic system. I couldn't stand the thought of putting him through chemo. I still need to get some bloodwork done to see if it helped, but he seems happy and healthy so far. They got it to me rather quickly and it looks really clean.
