Botanical Name: Rosa canina
Certified Organic
Origin: Chile or Lesotho
Production: Rosehips develop on wild rose bushes as the pink flower petals drop off in early summer and ripen throughout the summer months. The rose hip, also known as "hip berry", is actually the fruit of the rose.
Qualities: Nutritionally, rose hips are most commonly known for their high concentration of vitamin C, making rose hip an incredible immune booster and wellness ingredient. Additionally, rose hips are found to be anti-inflammatory and supportive of healthy bones and joints. Rose hips also contain vitamins A, D, and E, flavonoids, and iron.
Common Use: Rosehips are commonly used in herbal teas, syrups, and tinctures. In powder form, they can easily be added to dishes to increase nutrition, or added to juices and smoothies. This is especially great during the cold and flu season!
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
Safety: We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using any herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.

5 lb rose hips
First, the bag actually weighed 4 lb 12 Oz, but oh well.... I make rose hip soup, a Swedish type of fruit soup to eat any time, warm or cold w yogurt rt: Simmer 1.5 c rose hips in 6-7 c water, sweetened to taste & with cinnamon 1/2 hr, thicken w 1-2 T tapioca or cornstarch, purée w immersion blender and strain out seeds if desired. I often add raisins & almonds The seeds were noticeable, but this was the best value I found anywhere!
