Production: Field-fresh maca roots are sanitized, dried, and powdered, yet never heated above 100F/40C, preserving all enzymes and nutrients at peak levels.
Qualities: Maca is a root vegetable belonging to the radish family that has been cultivated by the native people of Peru for over 2000 years. It thrives in harsh conditions at high elevations and is grown by subsistence farmers using traditional farming practices, providing them with a sustainable source of income in a region where little else grows.
Maca has recently been popularized internationally as a supplement and nutritious food ingredient as it is rich in lipids, protein, and a variety of sterols, as well as vitamins B and C. It provides plenty of iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium and iodine.

Common Use: Maca has been a staple crop for the people of the high Andes for centuries where it is consumed cooked as a root vegetable or made into flour to produce bread and baked goods. Its flavor has been described as slightly sweet, malted, or like toasted oats. Maca powder can be enjoyed in smoothies, energy bars, salad dressings, puddings, raw sweets and juices.
