Botanical Name: Astragalus membranaceus
Origin: China
Production: Astragalus is an herbaceous perennial grown on sunny mountainsides for several years before being harvested, dried, and sliced/powdered.
Qualities: While clinically proven data is lacking, astragalus is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine for a variety of ailments and functions. It is traditionally valued for supporting the heart and healthy immune functions. Astragalus is known to stimulate the spleen, liver, lungs and circulatory and urinary systems. It has also been used to treat arthritis, asthma and nervous conditions as well as to lower blood sugar and pressure. Astragalus can be used as a general tonic to improve vitality and overall health.
Common Use: Astragalus is typically prepared as tea, encapsulated, or used as an extract. The powder is mildly sweet and may be sprinkled on food or whipped into a shake or smoothie. Most authorities on traditional Chinese medicine recommend taking 9 to 15 grams (3 to 5 tablespoons), of the whole herb per day as a decoction, made by boiling the ground, dried root in water for a few minutes and then brewing the tea.
Storage: Store in a dark, cool, dry place in an airtight container.

The box that my product was shipped in must have been dropped during transportation since two of the three the bags has burst. I notified EO and they promptly sent me two bags to replace the broken ones. Great service. AND I really like their ground root powder. It's very high quality and exactly what I want.
