Production: The yellow mustard seeds come from the white mustard plant. The yellow flowers produce seed pods that contain around 12 seeds, which are harvested just before the pods become ripe and burst.
Qualities: Mustard seed powder has many culinary uses and has a hotter flavor than the whole seed.

Not just for seasoning - cough remedy
Mustard makes a good plaster for treating really bad coughs. Make a paste with boiling water. Spread across a cotton sheet, fold in half, wrap around throat when still very warm and leave on until cool. Best if used before sleep (especially if coughing is disrupting quality sleep)
