Botanical Name: Mangifera indica
Country of Origin: Myanmar / Mexico

Common Use: Perfect for snacking on its own or as a dessert.

Tip: If your mango is drier than normal or a little tough, try soaking it in some water. This generally softens the fruit and increases both chewiness and flavour!

I have purchased (x2) 1# bags of the dried mango, back in November, and they were great! Super sweet, vibrant orange, chewy and easily eatable. Being I had such a good experience with the 1# bags, and dried mango is always kind of a risk to buy (not knowing the ripeness of the mango prior to drying) I decided to get the 5# bag just a week after purchasing a 1# bag. I was so excited to receive the big bag, since the prior mango was so darn good. Upon arrival I was so, so disappointed. To start, it came in a bag with no zip-lock closure, it was melted shut. This was a small con, so I was still just as excited to try the new mango. I noticed right away, that all of the mango was much more pale than my previous purchases. Upon opening the bag, I noticed the mango was cut much thinner than the previous as well. Now I was getting a little nervous, being I just spent $55+ on this 5# bag. The mango, looked as if it was dried on a large sheet, and rolled up to form a cylinder shape in the bag. This mango was incredibly different from my previous purchase in all ways. My previous purchase had the mango loose in the bag, where this new batch were all dried on top of one another, just enough to form a sheet and rolled up. When I tore off the first piece I could, to try, I noticed how hard it was to tear it off. And when I actually tried to eat it... so, so, so disappointing. I could not tear off any of the mango slice I tried to eat, and on my tongue, was a very bland, unsweetened flavor. "Oh know!" was my first thought, "All of this mango looks the same". I tried eating another slice from deeper in the bag... same result. Not even edible; especially with how tough it was. You cannot tear this new mango, you have to chew on it whole. And what sucks even more is the flavor. This was the most bland, unsweetened dried mango I have EVER had. This is no exaggeration from an angry reviewer, mind you. This is a warning to any of you about to spend hard earned money on this risky product. Every piece of mango in my 5# bag was the same pale yellow, and was cut extremely thin; noticeably thinner than the previous batch/Lot# I loved. Another weird thing about this 5# bag, was there were these thin mango strips (I'm sure some of you have seen them in stores) shoved in the middle of the pale yellow cylinder. These think strips are the only edible pieces out of this entire bag, sadly there is only about 20 strips (1in wide x 4 in long). The strips were a totally different color (vibrant orange) and were actually sweet and chew able. It was like the processor just shoved some older mango in the middle to reach the 5# mark, I don't know. I now have 5 pounds of inedible mango, that is a reminder of the money wasted and the risk that goes into buying bulk dried fruit. I have eaten dried, organic, unsulfured mango for many years, and this BY FAR was the worst dried mango me and my fiance have ever tasted. I reached out to customer service, and after multiple back and forth emails, over a few days, I was told:- They received my Lot#/batch in within the last month- They do not have any Lots/batches from prior left- They had not received any negative feedback from the mango as of yet (newest December batch)- I would not be refunded my money, unless I boxed it up and shipped it back to them, or simply receive a partial store credit off of a future purchase.I was asked to send pictures, and I did. It was clearly visible that the few strips that were actually edible were orange, were the 4.97# of remaining mango slices were a pale yellow. If I could post a photo on this site, you know I would! Especially since they were the ones who initiated me taking said photos in the first place. Long story short, do not order any dried mango for a month or so, to ensure this new Lot/batch is sold or gone. I'm never going to order any mango again from this particular site, because of this experience. If you can't see the mango, prior to purchasing, to ensure it has a healthy orange color, and decent thickness (resembling ripeness / sweetness), it is too risky to buy. Again this review is not posted out of anger, but out of compassion for other buyers. Be careful with dried fruit you can not look at before purchasing. I will still order other items from this site, as I have had great results with many other products. Peace!
